ICC is the institutional representative of more than 45 million companies in over 100 countries with a mission to make business work for everyone, every day, everywhere. ICC’s business network, comprising national and sub-national chambers of commerce, plays an important role in facilitating trade through the provision of both practical tools and policy advice.

ICC is one of the host organisations of the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation which provides assistance to developing and least developed countries to support TFA implementation through public-private partnerships.

ICC chambers issue ATA Carnets, international customs documents permitting the duty-free and tax-free temporary export and import of goods for up to one year.  Similarly, many chambers also issue and attest Certificates of Origin, with the ICC World Chambers Federation maintaining a universal set of procedures for their issuance and attestation.

ICC provides trade, customs and trade facilitation advice to governments worldwide, both directly and via international organisations such as World Trade Organisation and the World Customs Organisation.  As the only business organisation with Observer Status at the United Nations, ICC has a unique presence in New York and Geneva and regularly participates in trade related international discussions with a view to improving its facilitation.

Key advice for governments on trade facilitation:

  • Customs measures specifically designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises
  • Recommendations on Authorized Economic Operators
